The Chico Museum has shown many exhibits over the years.

History of Chico Museum

The museum is housed in the famous Andrew Carnegie Library which was built and opened to the public in 1906.

There have been different renovations over time and when the library built a new and bigger library; the structure was then remodelled and revamped to between 1980 and 1985 to become the Chico Museum.

The museum opened its gates on February 22, 1986. Over the past 31 years, it has been home to over 100 exhibits applauding the distinctive legacy of Chico and its scope of authority. Exhibitions vary throughout the year and offer a wide variety of subjects from the past of Chico to regional cultivation.

A number of the many educational exhibits have been a collection of artifacts from the “Chico Chinese Taoist Temple” to “A Tribute to the Filming of the Adventures of Robin Hood” and more.

Two that are always on display in the McIntyre Gallery is a detailed map of the surface of Northern California and a chronological list of events that takes you through the period of 1830 through 2000.
